The Women of the Bible

This podcast series is from one of my journals. I started a weekly Bible Study and we studied the stories of the women in the Bible. We started with Eve and studied 16 different stories. I hope you enjoy listening to these lessons!

Eve – This is the first episode of The Women in the Bible. It is Eve’s story. We will look at her life and some of her characteristics and how they can apply to our lives.

Sarah – This is the second episode of The Women in the Bible. It is Sarah’s story. We will read about her doubt and her need to fix things, but also about her courage, her hospitality and ultimately her faith. How much of her story applies to our stories?

Rebekah – This is the third episode of The Women in the Bible. It is Rebekah’s story. A reminder that God knows where we are and has a plan for us.

Rachel & Leah – This is the fourth episode of The Women in the Bible. It is the story of Rachel and Leah. This is the story of jealousy and its consequences and a reminder that God can use us in spite of our imperfections.

Tamar – This is the fifth episode of The Women in the Bible. It is the story of Tamar. This story reminds us that God can use anyone in any situation to bring about His purpose. Listen to find out how this woman is mentioned as a blessing in another book of the Bible and then again in the New Testament as a reminder of God’s grace and hope.

Rahab – This is the sixth episode of The Women in the Bible. It is the story of Rahab. This is a story of faith and how even a small seed of faith sowed in the heart can lead to a leap of faith and an amazing reward. Listen to find out how God can use our past and our life experiences for His purpose and His Glory.

Deborah & Jael – This is the seventh episode of The Women in the Bible. It is the story of two women – Deborah and Jael. Two amazing women that God used in a desperate time to bring about freedom from the enemies of Israel. What can we learn from them about faithfulness, walking out our calling, immediate obedience and using what God has given us?

Ruth – This is the eighth episode in the Women of the Bible series. It is the story of Ruth. Her name meant companion or friend. A daughter-in-law, a widow and a foreigner who through her promise of loyalty to her mother-in-law and her sacrifice and hard-work received a blessing of redemption in return. What can we learn about God’s plan of redemption in this remarkable book of the Bible.

Bathsheba – This is the ninth episode in the Women of the Bible series. It is the story of Bathsheba. She is at the center of the story of King David’s sin and repentance. She loses her husband and a child. But God forgives and redeems and she is later included in the genealogy of Jesus. Listen to see how God can use us no matter what we have gone through.

The Shunammite Woman – This is the tenth episode in the Women of the Bible series. It is the story of the Shunammite Woman. Her journey becomes her testimony. Because of her hospitality, God uses Elisha, the prophet, to revive an old dream with a miracle for her. Then because of her faith and response, she receives a second miracle. Next her testimony and God’s perfect timing show us that He can use every part of our lives – even the hard parts – to provide a blessing.

The widow of Zarephath – This is the eleventh episode in the Women of the Bible series. It is the story of the widow of Zarephath. She is quickly obedient to the word of the Lord through the prophet Elijah and is rewarded with a miracle of provision. She also has the gift of hospitality and Elijah is provided for through her as well. This woman also receives a second miracle and God shows himself faithful to a widow who does not even reside in Israel.

The Family of Moses – This is the twelfth episode of The Women in the Bible. It is the story of the women in Moses life. We will look at what the Bible says about his birth mother and his adoptive mother and his sister, Miriam. We will see the bravery of his natural family and how God can use even the family of the enemy to help with His plan.

Hannah – This is the thirteenth episode of the Women of the Bible. It is the story of Hannah. She was one of two wives and she did not have any children. She was bullied and her story gives us an example of how to take our despair and the cry of our heart to the Lord.
